The top of the table race in BRI Super League 2026/2027 has intensified further following the conclusion of matchweek eight. Persija Jakarta still holds first place in the Standings, but their defeat against Dewa United has cut their lead down to just one single point.
Persija have collected 18 points from eight matches. However, the position of Macan Kemayoran is now facing serious pressure from Dewa United, who occupy second place with 17 points.
Dewa United closed the gap after beating Persija 2-1 at Banten International Stadium, Serang, on Saturday evening 31 October. This result has blown the competition for the league top spot wide open.

Pressure on Persija does not only come from Dewa United. The three sides directly below them: Bali United, Persib Bandung, and Madura United, have all accumulated 16 points from eight matches. These teams can knock Persija off the top of the table if Shin Tae-yong's squad drops points once again.
Bali United moved into third position after defeating Arema FC 3-1 at Kanjuruhan Stadium, Malang Regency, on Saturday afternoon 31 October. This victory lifted Serdadu Tridatu into the top five of the provisional standings.
Defending champions Persib Bandung are also continuing to improve their position. Maung Bandung climbed to fourth place after securing a convincing 4-0 win over Isenmulang FC at Si Jalak Harupat Stadium, Bandung Regency, on Sunday 1 November.
Meanwhile, Madura United kept their top table ambitions alive with a narrow 1-0 victory against PSM Makassar at Gelora B.J. Habibie Stadium, Parepare, on Saturday afternoon 31 October. This result leaves Laskar Sape Kerrab level on points with both Bali United and Persib.
The race for the top six positions has grown even more compelling with the form of Persita Tangerang. Pendekar Cisadane currently sit in sixth place with 15 points from seven matches played.
They are only three points behind Persija, and hold one game in hand over all five teams positioned above them.
Persita also hold a remarkable record: they are the only remaining unbeaten side after eight matchweeks, with four wins and three draws so far this season.
At the opposite end of the standings, Persijap Jepara remain in a dire situation. They are the only team yet to register a victory after eight matches, having only recorded two draws and six defeats.
Results from matchweek eight confirm that this Super League season's title race has not narrowed down to just one or two contenders. With such tight point margins, positions at the top of the table can completely shift after just one single match.
Persija may still lead for now, but Dewa United are constantly looming right behind them. Bali United, Persib, Madura United and Persita all hold genuine chances to climb the standings, provided they can maintain consistent form across the upcoming matchweeks.
