Pedro Acosta finally claimed his first ever MotoGP class victory after finishing fastest at the 2026 Austrian MotoGP race held at the Red Bull Ring, Sunday 20 September 2026, WIB evening.

The KTM rider delivered consistent performance throughout the 28-lap race, holding the lead position all the way to the finish line. Acosta recorded a total race time of 42 minutes 16.996 seconds.

Jorge Martin, who started the race from pole position, had to settle for second place. Meanwhile, Marco Bezzecchi completed the Austrian MotoGP podium by taking third position.

This result also benefits Jorge Martin in the 2026 MotoGP championship standings. The rider extended his gap over Marc Marquez, who only managed to cross the finish line in fifth position.

2026 Austrian MotoGP Race Progression

Jorge Martin started the race from the front position, with Marc Marquez and Pedro Acosta joining him on the first row of the grid.

As the starting lights went out, Martin successfully held his lead. Marc Marquez meanwhile dropped several positions down to fourth place, with Marco Bezzecchi and Pedro Acosta taking second and third position respectively.

Acosta soon began to ramp up his pace. On the fourth lap, the KTM rider successfully overtook Bezzecchi to move up into second place, right behind Martin.

At this stage of the race, the top five positions were occupied by Martin, Acosta, Bezzecchi, Ai Ogura and Marc Marquez.

The battle at the front became even more intense on lap nine. Acosta executed a successful overtaking manoeuvre on Martin to take over the lead of the race.

On that same lap, Marc Marquez also moved back up into fourth place after passing Ai Ogura.

However, Marquez lost his position again on the very next lap. He ran wide at Turn 1 and lost momentum, allowing both Ogura and Brad Binder to overtake him.

Marquez was forced back down to fifth place.

As the race passed its halfway mark, Marquez's position dropped further. After 17 completed laps, the former world champion had fallen down to seventh place.

Meanwhile at the front, Acosta grew increasingly comfortable leading the race. His advantage over Martin had reached 0.879 seconds after 17 laps.

Acosta maintained this consistent rhythm all the way to the final lap. No other rider was able to close the gap he had built.

After completing all 28 laps, Acosta crossed the finish line as the race winner with his recorded time of 42 minutes 16.996 seconds.

This victory in Austria marks Acosta's first ever MotoGP main race win in the 2026 season, as well as his first premier class victory since his promotion.

Martin crossed the line in second place, with Bezzecchi taking the final podium spot in third.

Ai Ogura finished the race in fourth position. Marc Marquez had to settle for fifth place.

Jorge Martin Extends Championship Standings Lead
