Indonesia concluded the 2026 European badminton tour circuit with fairly promising results. Two championship titles and two runner-up positions were brought home across the Denmark Open, French Open, and Hylo Open. Nevertheless, the Indonesian Badminton Association (PP PBSI) remains unsatisfied with these achievements.

Eng Hian, Head of Development and Achievement Division at PP PBSI, has warned Indonesian badminton players against becoming complacent too quickly. According to him, the positive results obtained in Europe should serve as a foundation to improve game quality, not an excuse to slacken preparation efforts.

"I appreciate the fight put up by every athlete for these achievements. That said, there are still a number of areas that need improvement, most notably match consistency, ability to anticipate changes in opponents' playing patterns, and decision making during critical points," Eng Hian stated in an official release on Monday.

This evaluation carries weight because Indonesia managed to advance representatives to the final title matches across three separate tournaments. However, reaching the final stage is not enough if players cannot maintain their performance when facing match pressure and shifts in opponent strategy.

The doubles divisions contributed both of Indonesia's titles. Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Shohibul Fikri won the 2026 Denmark Open, while Amallia Cahaya Pratiwi / Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti secured the Women's Doubles title at the Hylo Open.

Meanwhile, the two runner-up positions were claimed by Moh. Zaki Ubaidillah at the French Open, and Jonatan Christie at the Hylo Open. These results demonstrate that Indonesia fields competitive representatives in both singles and doubles categories.

Fajar/Fikri's victory at the Denmark Open stood out as one of the most notable results from this tour circuit. This BWF World Tour Super 750 tier tournament was held 13-18 October 2026 in Odense, Denmark.

Following that, players continued competition at the French Open Super 750 held 20-25 October, before closing out the European leg with the Hylo Open Super 500 Running from 27 October to 1 November.

However, this packed competition schedule presents its own unique challenges. Eng Hian stressed that physical and mental readiness must be strengthened so that players can sustain their momentum, particularly as matches enter decisive late stages.

Evaluation is not limited purely to stroke technique. The ability to read opponents' tactical adjustments and make correct calls under high pressure at critical points is a key aspect that will improve win probabilities in tightly contested matches.

"I hope none of the athletes will grow satisfied too quickly with what they have already achieved, and will keep working to raise the standard of their play," he added.

This message comes as the BWF World Tour calendar moves into the Asian tournament circuit. According to PBSI's official schedule, the 2026 Yeosu Victor Korea Open, a Super 500 tier event, will be held 3-8 November.

Indonesia will be fielding 12 representatives to compete at the Korea Open. This tournament will be the next opportunity for players to maintain their positive form, while proving that their successes in Europe can be sustained against the full breadth of international competition.

After the Korea Open, the tour will proceed to the Kumamoto Masters in Japan from 10-15 November, followed by the Hong Kong Open from 17-22 November. This consecutive schedule means that physical condition management and consistent match performance will become increasingly critical.

Eng Hian expressed hope that the players will be able to maintain their condition as well as hold onto their confidence after completing the three European tournaments.

"I expect them to prepare properly, look after their physical state, and carry this positive momentum forward in order to once again deliver maximum results," Eng Hian stated.

For PBSI, the two titles and two runner-up finishes represent valuable baseline progress. The next challenge will be ensuring these results are not just an isolated run of good form, but part of sustained long-term improvement for Indonesian Badminton.
