The top-of-the-table race for the 2026/2027 Premier League has grown even more dramatic after Manchester City suffered a defeat at the hands of Nottingham Forest, while Arsenal secured three points against Hull City.

Manchester City were outplayed by Nottingham Forest with a final score of 1-3 in this Matchweek 10 fixture hosted at City Ground, early Sunday morning WIB. This result extends a poor run of form for The Citizens, who have now registered three consecutive Premier League defeats.

By contrast, Arsenal have solidified their hold on first place in the provisional standings after claiming a narrow 1-0 victory over Hull City at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday, 7 November 2026.

This latest win takes Mikel Arteta's squad to 27 total points. The Gunners now hold a six-point advantage over second-placed Manchester City.

Manchester City Fall 1-3 To Nottingham Forest

Manchester City endured a nightmare start to the match when Gianluigi Donnarumma's net was breached after just six minutes of play.

Jair Cunha scored Nottingham Forest's opening goal. He dispossessed Josko Gvardiol, drove forward on the break, and fired a low driven shot that left Donnarumma completely rooted to the spot.

The home side doubled their lead in the 18th minute. Liam Delap capitalised on a costly miscoordination between Eliott Anderson and Iliman Ndiaye as the pair attempted to deal with loose possession in midfield.

Xaver Schlager won the ball in the resulting scramble before laying it off to Delap. The former Manchester City academy graduate carried the ball to the edge of the penalty area before unleashing a powerful strike that found the back of the net.

Trailing by two goals, Manchester City ramped up attacking pressure. Erling Haaland had a golden opportunity to pull one back after rounding goalkeeper Matz Sels.

However, the Norwegian striker's goalbound effort was cleared off the line at the last second by Jair Cunha.

Rayan Cherki Gives Manchester City Brief Hope Of A Comeback

After the half-time break, Manchester City emerged far more aggressive as they chased the deficit. Their efforts paid off in the 52nd minute through Rayan Cherki.

The goal originated from a Jeremy Doku cross that was not properly cleared by the Nottingham Forest defence. Cherki met the loose ball with a clean left-footed half-volley.

This brought the scoreline to 2-1, opening up a real chance for Manchester City to fight back for an equaliser.

The Citizens continued to pile pressure on the home defence, though Nottingham Forest also created repeated dangerous threats on the counter-attack.

In the 67th minute, Ryan Yates came inches away from extending Forest's lead. His shot took a deflection off Elliot Anderson before crashing against the crossbar.

Nottingham Forest finally restored their two-goal cushion in the 73rd minute, as Liam Delap scored his second of the match to make it 3-1.

This goal came from a well-worked counter-attack started by Morgan Gibbs-White. He played a through ball to Delap, who broke into the penalty area and fired a left-footed shot into the top corner of Donnarumma's goal.

Manchester City failed to find any further goals before full time. This 1-3 loss marks their third straight Premier League defeat, following prior losses against Aston Villa and Brighton.

Arsenal Edge Hull City 1-0, Odegaard Scores The Winner

While Manchester City continue their slump, Arsenal secured a vital victory as they hosted Hull City at the Emirates Stadium.

The Gunners claimed a 1-0 win courtesy of a single goal from Martin Odegaard in this Matchweek 10 2026/2027 Premier League fixture, played on Saturday 7 November 2026.

Despite playing in front of their home supporters, Arsenal did not have an easy fixture. Hull City actually created the first dangerous chance of the match through Elliot Stroud.

His initial shot was parried by David Raya. Tim Iroegbunam connected with the rebound, but Declan Rice made a crucial last-ditch block to deny the goal.

Arsenal's first proper threat came from a Declan Rice free kick, though his effort was comfortably held by Hull City goalkeeper Konstantinos Tzolakis.

Late in the first half, Kai Havertz attempted to break the deadlock with a header during stoppage time, only for Tzolakis to produce another fine save to keep the scores level.

Both sides went into the half-time break with the match goalless.

Martin Odegaard Secures All Three Points For Arsenal

At the start of the second half, Arsenal increased their attacking intensity. Noni Madueke had an opportunity in the 57th minute, but his shot was once again stopped by Tzolakis.

The deadlock was finally broken in the 72nd minute. Martin Odegaard found the back of the net, pouncing on the loose ball after Tzolakis failed to properly hold Noni Madueke's initial strike.

This goal from the Norwegian midfielder put Arsenal 1-0 ahead.

After taking the lead, Arsenal continued to push for a second goal. Mikel Merino had a chance with a header in the 88th minute, but his weak effort was easily collected by the Hull City goalkeeper.

No further goals were scored before the final whistle. This victory confirms Arsenal will retain their position at the top of the provisional league standings.

Premier League Standings: Arsenal Open Six Point Lead

The contrasting results for the two title contenders have put Arsenal in a far stronger position at the top of the division.

The Gunners now sit on 27 points from 10 matches, six points clear of Manchester City in second place.

Manchester City will need to turn their form around urgently, having now suffered three back-to-back defeats in domestic competition.

Meanwhile, this famous upset win over Manchester City is a huge result for Nottingham Forest. The three points lift them out of the relegation zone, moving them up to 16th place with 9 points.

Hull City currently sit in 13th place with 11 points, per official Premier League published data.

This current league situation means Arsenal now have an even greater opportunity to pull clear of their rivals in the race for the Premier League Title for the 2026/2027 season.
