Qatar MotoGP Sprint Race Marred By Red Flag And Crashes
The 2026 Qatar MotoGP sprint race was full of drama right from the start. Tight on-track battles forced race officials to temporarily halt the event following a crash on the second lap.
This incident involved Ducati Lenovo Team's Francesco Bagnaia and Fermin Aldeguer. The heavy collision resulted in Bagnaia being unable to continue the race.
A red flag was subsequently deployed to suspend the race. Once track conditions were declared safe, the event resumed with a revised 10 lap format.
The drama did not end once riders got back underway. Aprilia Racing's Marco Bezzecchi, who had started the sprint race from pole position, crashed out while battling Marc Marquez through a corner.
The contact during the fight for the lead sent Bezzecchi down, eliminating him from contention for the race victory.

After Bezzecchi's crash, Jorge Martin briefly moved into the lead of the race. The Aprilia Racing rider presented a serious threat to Marquez in the fight for the win.
However, Marquez maintained his consistent pace and reclaimed first position. His experience and raw speed proved critical in holding his advantage all the way to the finish line.
